The health benefits of wine come directly from how wine is produced. And the health benefits of red wine far outweigh those of white.
Wine starts with grapes that were either cultivated with chemicals or without. Organic wine is the label given to grapes grown without chemical assistance (basically). When the grape itself has to do all the work in fighting bacteria, mold, and sickness it produces more antioxidants and disease fighting nutrients that make it into your glass.
A grape that had assistance from chemicals doesn’t have to produce as many.
The grape is then transferred to a vat where it is crushed along with thousands of other grapes. Since 95% of those grapes are below the surface, they do not get exposed to oxygen even after their skin is broken. This is the one of the primary health benefits of wine.
Then the wine is sealed in a cask where the grape ferments, creating even more beneficial nutrients that are shielded from the damaging effects of oxygen. Finally the wine is put directly into bottles and corked, leaving the #1 health benefit of wine undisturbed until you take a drink.
