Here are some of the foods high in antioxidants, broken down by their antioxidant claim to fame. Most of these foods are also on a more famous list that we call Super Foods.
Antioxidants are found in a variety of different plants and foods. Usually the plants that are brighter in color are the foods higher in antioxidants.
Antioxidants are also found in meat, though we highlight the healthier meats, and those foods high in antioxidants vitamins. Peruse the list, and you’ll find foods from chocolate to tuna and a lot in between!
Unfortunately, it is well known that our soil has been stripped of much of its nutrient power in the last 50 years. We know that the plant kingdom itself can produce over 4,000 flavonoids and 25,000 phytochemicals – but that is entirely dependent on the concentration of micro-nutrients in the soil. Even if you are eating a balanced diet of these foods high in antioxidants, we still recommend a nutritional supplement.
In order to get the most antioxidants out of these anti aging foods, you would need to eat a variety of them and get your recommended 5 or more fruits and vegetables everyday. However, even with healthy eating, the shelf life of food, cooking practices, pesticides, preservatives and sugar all help reduce the nutrient value of the foods before they are on your plate. We suggest supplementing your diet with a multi-vitamin and antioxidant supplement.
